Facilities at Birmingham Academic Centre

Computer and on-line facilities
All students have access to excellent computing facilities and expert support delivered by professional individuals.
Each student has a personal centre email address, and free access to the internet. Students can borrow laptops from the Centre.

Computer system specifications

• Fully networked MS Windows XP computers in clusters/groups
• High-speed campus network and internet connections
• Access to specialised software required by the curriculum, internet, e-mail, central filestore and print services
• E-mail, filestore and printing facilities are provided on centralised, highly secure servers
• Extensive wireless access across main areas of the campus

Printers
There are two printers available in the IT suite. Printing facility is free of charge at the Centre.

Photocopier
There is a business photocopier available in the IT suite. The speed of the photocopier is 50 copies a minute. The photocopying facility is free of charge at the Centre.

Study Space
The Learning Study Space facility on the third floor provides a flexible space for you to do private study or group work. There is also a wireless network environment where you can work on your laptop.

As a student you will have access to these special surroundings for quiet and concentrated study, which will provide you with conditions that will possibly surpass any that you will use in your future career.

Study Support Facilities
In addition to our tutorial system, we also offer a number of specialised learning services to support you through your studies:

Food and Drink at Subsidised price

Hot and Cold drinks and snacks are available at subsidised price to all students.
