Welcome to Birmingham Academic Centre for Excellence (BACE)

BACE is a progressive educational organisation which has been established to meet the ambitions of students, by providing a range of exciting opportunities to study for recognised university degrees, and related qualification.

The provision includes pre-university education and English Language studies are available for those needing a qualification before embarking on degree studies.

Students can count on receiving an excellent learning and teaching experience at the well-resourced Centre, and they will benefit from the first-rate educational, cultural and commercial resources available within the city of Birmingham.

To develop its academic provision the Centre is aiming to establish a network of good quality UK universities, and with professional awarding and accreditation bodies, all of whom understand the needs of local and international students.

BACE is located in an attractive building close to the heart of Birmingham city centre. This cosmopolitan city is generally regarded as England’s ‘most vibrant’, and it is one of the top cities in the UK for its provision of universities and colleges with students from all parts of the world, for its industrial and commercial history, for its progressive businesses and manufacturing industries and for its tremendous range of cultural, entertainment and sporting activities. Birmingham is a good, clean and safe place to live. It has excellent public transport services, there are restaurants, cafes and eateries serving dishes from all parts of the world, and there are plenty of entertainment venues; the cost of living is relatively low and good living accommodation is available.

These should enable the Centre to match internationally competitive standards, establish a distinctive reputation for the relevance and quality of teaching, and build on existing good practice. The objectives for the Centre are to:

• Provide a wide range of courses and university degree programmes to local and international students
• Develop a portfolio of modular courses, which may be more flexibly delivered to meet the needs of individual students
• Offer clear access and progression routes to university education.
• Excel in anticipating and quickly responding to market changes, opportunities & customer needs
• Develop a professional quality of highly motivated teams of managers, teachers and administrators to turn visions into reality
• Maintain a first-class environment for learning through the provision of high quality resources, facilities and learning technologies, for the pursuit of excellence in teaching, scholarship, and vocational capability
• Provide innovative and work based learning opportunities, directly or through partnerships at the point of need
• Continuously raise student performance levels and gain a growing number of satisfied students who will act as advocates for the Centre
• Seek efficiency gains, cost reductions to meet convergence targets and to generate resources for investing in new markets & developments

The Governance
The Centre has an instrument of governance, which defines the Memorandum of Association and Article of Association in accordance with which the Centre is to be administrated and managed.
